Josh and Christa’s dream was to have a lakeside castle wedding in Switzerland. Thanks to our longstanding partnership with Schloss Oberhofen, we were able to provide the ideal venue to bring their vision to life. On a stunning day along the shores of Lake Thun, their intimate group of close friends and family were captivated by the picturesque setting.

Here is their story

We chose Switzerland because we’re both in love with the mountains, and I’m especially in love with Switzerland. When it came to planning our wedding, I really wasn’t looking forward to all the formalities with distant relatives and family friends we barely knew. I didn‘t want to elope either because I did want our closest family and friends to be there.

So I started googling, looking for a resolution and stumbled upon your website (Switzerland Wedding Company). Once I read more about it, I realized you were the perfect answer to our situation. No awkward ‘have tos’, just us celebrating our love the way we wanted to, in the midst of the most amazing nature with only our closest loved ones. I talked to Leni and he was immediately on board too. We sat down with the people we wanted to be there to check if they wanted to join us as well and the rest is history.

It was also SOOO convenient that you were able to take care of everything that needed to be arranged in Switzerland, so we didn’t have to worry about it upfront or during our special day. You were able to find us the perfect spot at Schloss Oberhofen and the coziest cabin on the campground to have our BBQ in the evening. As you also were the one to book our hair and make-up, I’m not sure who they were but they were the most amazing ladies. Very sweet and they made us feel comfortable from the start. The personnel from camping Alpenblick had such a cozy spot for us to get ready as well. They were all lovely, nice people. We were even welcome with our 4 dogs, which is very hard to find. Both our parents stayed on the campground for a week and had the best time. And of course you Cindy, you were able to make us feel comfortable during the photoshoot even though we are both the most uncomfortable people on earth once a camera is pointed towards us. During the ceremony, you were able to capture the beautiful location, the atmosphere and our love without us even noticing it. Just perfect!

What I remember most is the energy of that day. The love, the friendship, the excitement, all of us just soaking it up. Our friends who had never met most of our family and vice versa were getting along so well and vibing as if they knew each other for years. They were all there cheering for us and celebrating our love and having a great time. We made memories that will last forever, and we still often talk about our wedding and trip to Switzerland. With every new wedding or event, our wedding gets brought up again as to mention how amaizing and laid back (in a good way) it was. I’m sure it wouldn’t have been this wonderful if we just followed the mainstream and did the typical wedding in Belgium. We wouldn’t change anything about our wedding if we could. I’m honestly sad I can’t do it again 😉

Not about our wedding day itself but a sidenote I want to share:

When I came to Switzerland with my grandmother to check out locations, her physical health got a lot better again. She was so happy on the trip and we took many photos and she mentioned to me that if the day would come, she’d want us to use one of these photos for her funeral. Sadly, she passed away earlier this year and we actually did use one of the photos I took of her during our trip. Our wedding was more than just a celebration of the love between me and my husband, it was also a trip where we got to bond deeply with all of the people that mean most to us.
